As the starting point, the Tabinokura is a regional guide site for those who go sightseeing around the surrounding area. As of December 4, 2010 the site now has a shinkansen train station called the "Shichinohe-Towada Station". Shichinohe town is a town with much greenery that is located in the Southeast section of Aomori Prefecture, and extends to the foot of Mt. Hachimandake. It started as a merchant town that was known nationwide as a horse-breeding center, and it was crowded with brokers that gathered from all over the country. Additionally, it was a small burg that prospered under the Shichinohe castle that is assumed to have been established during the Kamakura Period. Shichinohe town used to be a cultural commercial city that became the kernel of the southern part of Aomori Prefecture region at that time. As modern times approached, the demand for horses steadily declined along with much of the town’s hustle and bustle. However, when tourists visit this town it makes them reflect back onto times gone past along with the future role of this town with so much history.
